This guy cracks me up!

Today's blog entry, courtesy of Pascual....my daddy :)

Now you must read and think this in a heavy Spanish accent.
This guy wanted to buy a burro, but he didn't have a lot of money. He went to the man who had the burros for sale and told the man how much money he had.
"Well, señor, the only burro you can afford on my farm is dis one, but he no look too good"
"Oh! Gra-cee-ass my friend he looks just fine to me! I'll take him"
"Ok, señor, if ju really wan him, you can hab him, but he no look too good"
"He's a little ugly, but I'll take him anyway"
Well, the guy packed his burro and went on his way to the mounts. A few weeks later the guy goes back to the Burro farm to talk to the owner.
"Hola Señor, what are you doing back so soon?"
"Hey, I'm really mad at you! I was climbing with my burro, when all of a sudden he just walked striaght off a cliff! Just what kind of burro did you sell me????"
"Señor, I tol ju, he no look too good!!"

I *love* a Parade!

Happy Thanksgiving all!

Well, I'm cooking tonight for our Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow, Friday. I thought it was just going to be my dad and his wife, now it's turned into about 8 additional adults and 6 more children! Oh well, Lord knows I have enough food to feed an army. Just have to tell the boys to exhibit a little self control :)

This morning, Alex and I watched the parade. Well, mostly me, he was sitting most of the time playing his game. I'm such a goober and my boys tell me ALL the time.

I'm participating in a Photography challenge, originally found on Flickr but is now posted on the 2peas Photography Board as well. As I was jumping around shouting at the top of my lungs for my children to get their butts out of bed and join me in watching the parade. I realized, I was "gleeful". Well, 'glee' is one of the items on my hunt! So I set up the tripod and made Ben take pics of us with the remote while we watched.

He got us while I was screaming about something, and Alex trying to stifle my gleefulness LOL

Here are some shots, and outtakes of our morning. Yes, that's me in a picture! Amazing isn't it???

La vida Boricua

Life as & with a Puerto Rican. Gotta love the parties!
It doesn't matter who you are or where you came from, if you're there, your family.
Be prepared to say hello, introduce yourself and give every woman a hug and a kiss, and every man a handshake....well, a hug and kiss too, if he's family. Scratch that, everyone gets a hug becuase they just might be family!
Give yourself LOTS of time before you need to leave the party to say goodbye....takes half an hour to say hello to everyone, takes at least 1.5 hrs to say goodbye.
You must eat, period. You will WANT to eat.

Don't worry if you don't understand Spanish, just nod your head and agree with whoever is talking to you. Hey, I speak Spanish and can't understand what half these folks are saying!!! My HUSBAND speaks Spanish and grew up with the dialect....he still can't understand his family!

Pork is a way of life, as is rice, beans, chicken...FOOD is a way of life, lots and lots of food.

Kids of all ages are welcomed, and WILL be there....lots and lots of kids.
These pictures are from two seperate parties. But it depicts the essence of what my kids have come to know as standard for a party. Birthday Party, Baby Shower, Anniversary, Graduation, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Easter, Funerals, Weddings, Tio's back in town, Sunday dinner....ANY type of party! This is La vida Boricua

Chasing the sky

I really feel like I have been chasing or wanting to chase the sky the past few weeks. We have had the most amazing sunsets during the past few weeks and I've just sat and looked, wanting to take pictures but of course, the sun is setting so much earlier now that I'm never prepared!

Well, coming home from Mama's birthday party was the PERFECT opportunity to drive to the marina since the sun was setting and my camera was handy. I need to get out earlier becuase I did miss so much color, but I'm happy with what I got.

Enjoy!

I love this kid

Well, I knew this year would be tough, being that this is my firstborn's senior year of high school. Emotions run from sadness, worry, joy and pride. But I must say, this man-child is just a wonderful human being.

We've been hanging out every weekend for the past several weeks. Either going for long drives, or escaping in the middle of the night to take night shots at our favorite places. This weekend we actually went ballroom dancing! Yes, this "cool" teenage boy, went to a studio with his "old" mother, took lessons and then did the "West Coast Swing" for a couple of hours with a bunch of strangers!

Whether, he's come along just to protect me, to apease me, because he's bored or because he just plain likes to hang out with me, I might never know. What matters is that he's there and we both know our time together is growing short.

Today, I'm proud to say he got his first college acceptance letter!!!! The first of what I'm sure will be many. This was a really good morale booster for him. Although it's a local university, I know he doesn't want to stay local which is actually fine by me.

It's wierd but I really do want him to go away and experience life on his own, to branch out and become who God has intended him to be. I think, this child, is one who needs to be thrown into the deep end of the pool and made to swim. I'm sure he'll do fine, he may gulp a few mouth-fulls of water, but he'll do just fine.

I'm so proud of my baby!

Whew! I've been busy :)

Last time I tried posting, blogger kept kicking me out and not letting me post pictures. SO, I've stayed away a while! Sunday was Big Willy's bday. We went to Six Flags, I know, not HIS idea but it was a season passholder party and the last day of the season so he had sympathy for us and we all went. I'm so glad, becuase I got some really gorgeous pics! Here ya go :)

And here are some special photos just for Hannah Bear....I thought of her the whole time we were with the Giraffes!
